Call for Ideas
How can we promote ESL week in our community? TESL Windsor-Essex is actively seeking creative ideas for ESL week. ESL week will be the held the week of November 18-27th. It is a national event. In the past, we have had the City of Windsor make a proclamation of ESL week. We will continue to do this; however, this year we want to ramp things up. Our goals are:

Do you have a presentation idea that you would like to share with your TESL Windsor-Essex colleagues? We are currently looking for presenter proposals from within our very talented teaching group for our Fall 2016 PD Workshop event. TESL Windsor would like to provide our very talented ESL teachers the opportunity to present and share their wisdom. We are actively searching for presenters who can bring forward innovative ideas or the "tried and true". This workshop will focus on practical information and useful tools that attendees can take away with them to enhance their teaching practice or improve value to the organizations that they serve. You might consider co-presenting if you are not comfortable on your own. Benefits to being a TESL Windsor PD Presenter: 1. Experience of presenting - stepping stone to TESL Ontario?? 2. Looks great on a resume 3. PD Hours 4. Sharing knowledge, tools and resources with colleagues 5. Registration is now open for this 18-week TESOL Diploma program which is set to begin on May 3, 2016. In order to be admitted to the TESOL Diploma program, you must have completed the TESOL Certificate program or hold a TESL Canada Standard 1 certification or equivalent. The University of Windsor offers both the TESOL Certificate Program and the TESOL Diploma Program. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the entire TESL Windsor community for choosing me to represent you in TESL Ontario. It is an honour to be elected as your next president. I am very humbled that you would place your trust in me. This is a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I will endeavour to represent you with the utmost hard work and dedication. I also would like to thank the previous president, Christine Stanley, for her leadership, guidance, and commitment. Christine, working with you has been nothing but a pleasure, and I am looking forward to learning from your experience and wisdom. At the same time, I would like to express my appreciation to all present and past executive members, but particularly to new faces: Sarah, Shirley and Connie. Your dedication is truly valued and respected. Click here to find the documents. The TESL Affiliate Award is presented to a TESL Windsor member who has made an outstanding contribution to the TESL Windsor Affiliate.
This year, the TESL Windsor Affiliate has been awarded to Kelly Morrissey for her outstanding contribution to our affiliate. Kelly was instrumental in developing the current TESL Windsor website. She also contributed many hours as both secretary and webmaster. She set up a very comprehensive email system and professionally navigated the executive board through the subscriber list policies. Additionally, Kelly was a keynote presenter 2 times. She presented on using technology and expertly guided members in the use of multiple online tools. Kelly co-presented on the topic of "Going Back to the Well". We congratulate and honour Kelly in her outstanding contribution to the TESL Windsor Affiliate. |
